Does The Bible Endorse Prostitution?
What Is Prostitution?

Prostitution is pertained to as the “oldest profession” and it has always been a way for women to make money even in the previous generation or in the bibles ages. It involves substituting of money between man and a woman for sex without the involvement of emotional and moral attachment to each other.
Religious prostitution also known as a temple prostitute is engaging in such practice of having sex for sacred purposes. The modern type of prostitution in our generation today may not be relevant with this type of prostitution because it does not carry the same moral actions for ancient times comparing to this period.
One of the questions are need to answer whether this kind of action are right or wrong in the eyes of God.
Escort service industry was usual and indentified in the bible and there are various information exist along with many prostitute having an important roles in Jesus’ life. One of this noted people is Mary Magdalene.
Was Mary Magdalene Is Just Another Prostitute?
According to the Pope Gregory the Great on Luke’s gospel, Marry Magdalene was a prostitute. The idea came from the verse Luke 7:36-50 of a woman who oiled the feet of Jesus with the tears on her eyes. She was described as the woman in the city who was a sinner.
Mary Magdalene was also described in the verse Luke 8:2 which she had seven evil according to the bible which uses this source as a support pertaining to this woman. An evil that uses her body for sexual implementation, it this case, no doubt that Mary Magdalene could have been a prostitute.
However, the Christians and scholars came to a proposed study that Mary Magdalene is not a prostitute due to the fact that the Bible never says so. There is no source that the Bible states that she was a onetime prostitute.
Sodom and Gomorrah
Furthermore, the Bible also mentioned prostitution in the times of Sodom and Gomorra. The usual version of the story of Sodom and Gomorra comes into a vocabulary word means “anal intercourse”. The destruction of these ancient cities had been God’s annoyance against the sin of the people regarding homosexuality mentioned in Genesis 19.
However some researchers say that sexuality is not the clear reason for God’s punishment on Sodom and Gomorrah because it doesn’t apparently state in the bible. It doesn’t indicate anything about sexual acts of any kinds as the reason for end.
Other writers say that the people from these cities had gone after “strange flesh” in Jude 7. Some thinks that this word is referring to homosexuality which the translation of this phrase from the Greek word is heteros sarx which means different flesh.
These interpretations by some biblical scholars seem to attempt to keep homosexuality under conviction. This custom is strong that those having a different interpretation may be put in error and false belief.
What Does Bible Says About Prostitution?
Prostitution is really exist in the bible but it doesn’t mean the bible itself endorse this activity. The Bible does not pointing out the fact that prostitution is right and openly adapt the practice and support.

Bible highly approved the sexual intimacy between a man and woman for the intention of pleasure, and procreation provided they should engaged their selves to the covenant of marriage.
We all have fleshly desires that we are trying to prevent. Never assume that if we want something then that’s the way what God signified us to do. There are Christians who engaged with homosexual matters and today they come to give up that urge. Along with all other mistakes and behavior we make, it is good to stand through his words and change our ways to correspond what it tells us.
