Did Porn Caused a Man to Attempt a Rape?

A question that has been argued about for a long time where many people believe it as true and others do not is: Does pornography cause men to rape women?

PORN-WATCHING IS EASIER THAN “EXERCISING IT“

Often do we neglect the effects of such things in our lives simply because we always think that since it is intangible, we wouldn’t be as affected as with an addiction to sex toys maybe, or escorts and prostitution. The truth is, it only takes 21 days to develop a habit and unfortunately, men develop this porn-watching habit on the first day! The probable reason may be because it is easier to do than any other tasks such as daily exercise, to-do at work and the like.

The accessibility of pornography in DVD stores and online is overwhelming that you wouldn’t put much effort into seeing and buying your own copy of “Deep Throat”. Regardless if it’s a movie of the 70’s, as long as it’s a porn movie, then you’ll surely get your own copy in no time. If you want, you can also download free porn movies online that are more daring and will give you more excitement in finding false pleasure.

The effects of having such abundant sources of porn is something that nobody dares to question regardless of pornography ban all over the world because we all have become victims of this illusion of pleasure. We would probably not admit it consciously, but all, including politicians, priests, teenagers, Christians and men and women in general have seen and have become inhabitants in this world of pornography.

CAN PORN ADDICTION GO THIS FAR?

Can addiction to pornography go to the extent that someone would want to exercise his sexual fantasies with some stranger through rape or sexual assault? The answer is a definite maybe.

One of the most recent news about pornography affecting the minds of men is the attempted rape in Travelers Rest, South Carolina.  A 26-year old man, named Christopher McCall has been reported to the police by a woman who happened to be a guest at the Hampton Inn. The said inn is where McCall works as a clerk. The police report says that the woman checked in at the hotel but was not charged for the room by McCall.

Later on that evening, McCall and another man named, Christopher Debusk knocked on her door, said they needed to do maintenance check. The woman then opened the door and went out on the hallway to let the two inside the room. That’s when the two men grabbed the woman and tried to pull her back inside. Luckily, the woman escaped their grip and ran to call for help.

The two Christopher also ran away after that. McCall, instead of hiding someplace else, went to see Rev. Danny Moore of Zion Hill Baptist Church. Joe and Rebecca Bradley, who lives in the home behind the church, were the ones McCall talked to first that night and asked where he could find his pastor. The Bradley’s were in shock to see McCall in the middle of the night looking so worried, troubled and shaken. However, they were kind enough to assist him to the pastor’s house who talked to the boy who once confessed to him how deep his addiction to pornography was.

McCall also told the same confession police officers when he was questioned about the incident at the hotel. He said that his porn addiction pushed him to act on his fantasies and the woman just happened to be the unlucky target. Rev. Moore assessed McCall as remorseful but, “he seemed suicidal because he thinks of what his family would think of him”.

Rev. Moore talked McCall out of running away from the police and that’s when the latter decided to turn himself in. Moore drove him back to the Hampton Inn and McCall was arrested that same day. Debusk, the other man involved in the crime was also arrested later that day. Both faced charges of assault, battery and kidnapping and are now being held at Greenville County Jail.

THREE KILLER TRUTHS ABOUT PORNOGRAPHY ADDICTION

  1. The entire porn industry is full of lies. Just like any other fictional movie, porn movies and images are but scripted and fabricated to entice viewers into enjoying “virtual sex” better than the actual intercourse with a real human.
  2. You can get entrenched in it over time without possibility of escape. Once you develop the habit, it would be hard for you to let go of such stronghold. Conversely, it could also be easier for you to become less morally obligated to stop which therefore could result into acting out what you see for further pleasure.
  3. Porn addiction has a crucial effect on the brain. The stimulation one gets from porn and actual foreplay is the same but the effect is completely different. Psychologists say that porn is toxic to the brain and can be compared to cocaine.

THE DEBATE CONTINUES…

Whether porn addiction brings about feelings of aggressiveness and influences people to act out what they see is still debatable. It’s something that needs to be studied with men and women to prove that addiction to porn could lead to crimes such as rape. Furthermore, one or a few incidents of the same nature as above does not conclude what most people and psychologists now believe as true. Conversely, it is still better for us to be aware of what porn could bring into our lives.
